Visionaries: Tobi Babajide & Jason Akoi
What's Going on world, the full Alias is Oluwatobi Babajide, Tobi for lazy folk that like short cuts. I’m one of the founding fathers
of Herds of The Fathers. You will get to know the other underneath. I come from a family of entrepreneurs which makes starting my own business less difficult. At a early age, I realized how important appearance was, and how one can be robbed of certain opportunities simply because of self presentation. Growing up and especially while playing catch up on the fashion sides of things, fads were the easiest way to go. Basically stocking my closet with what was in at the time. My closet has gone through different stages, For example, the white tee shirt stage, the Marithe Francois Girbaud jeans stage, the l.r.g stage, and lastly the throwback jersey stage; the most costly of all (no offense to any of these Brands mentioned ). The fad phase ended when I realized I was blending in with the crowd. The next phase and the most current phase in my closet is the polo stage which started in eighth grade. This all started from one purchase at Macys, which have lead to hundreds of purchases. I will not claim that I’m a Lo head. I just appreciate when I can wear the same polo from 2003 and have people ask me if I just bought it. People think I am into fashion, but I tell them that I realized the power of appearance at an early age.
This led to the inception of Herds Of The Fathers. When I first thought about starting something, I thought to myself that what the industry needs are not more brands that originate on the basis of fads and fold up within five years. Everyone where one looks today, men are becoming more conscientious of their appearance. Men are dressing better and not petrified to go outside of the box. The idea was to create a one stop shop where all men can buy all the accessories needed to compliment what is already in their closets. In the upcoming months you will be able to purchase timeless luxury pieces from Herds of the Fathers that will be a stable in your wardrobe for years to come. I would like to thank you for one for reading this long bio, and please come back daily to check on our evolution.
I go by the name of Jason Akoi. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. I grew up in a pretty liberal Liberian household.
My folks weren’t as strict as a majority of traditional African upbringings. They gave the green light to spread my wings and do whatever it is I felt like, as long as I was enrolled in school. That rebellious attitude contributed to all aspects of my life, including fashion. Can’t even lie, back in the day my throwback jersey collection was serious. But after awhile I got tired of the white tee norm. As I stepped out of the so called “box” I just started trying new things. My style derives from my love of sports. I grew up in the 90’s during the Jordan era where the sports culture was at an all time high. ESPN keeps me alive. I love to look for old sports memorabilia to wear on a daily basis, whether it is basketball, football, baseball, or whatever. With that being said, I have to confess my all time lover, NIKE. I have sold my sole to NIKE (get it? Haha). I love sneakers and I am not ashamed of it. Although the game is pretty saturated at this point, the phase will pass and true sneaker heads will reign. NIKE is timeless to me. You can still look back on a sneaker created in ’85 and appreciate it. A lot of brands can’t enjoy this luxury. Besides NIKE I’m not really a label head. I like to have fun wit clothes. Shopping should be an adventure, not an experience hindered by label blockage in your brain created by magazine articles. People ask me why in the world I would start an accessory brand. Besides the fact that college is boring me to the point of near mental death, I feel as though an accessory based brand will help combine all styles, no matter if your style is serious like my counterpart, or laid back like mine.

We are here to change the game. We are here to stay. Timeless pieces are the goal we are trying to achieve and maintain. Please check in with us everyday to check on the progress of the brand and different things that we are interested in. Hopefully my insight and humor can fulfill your daily blog appetites.
